Rookie cop has new 'blue' line of defense in Brooklyn manslaughter case

The rookie cop who allegedly killed a Brooklyn man in a dimly lit stairwell when his gun discharged last year has a new "blue" line of defense — a former deputy commissioner and a onetime NYPD captain.

Officer Peter Liang has hired private attorneys Robert Brown and Rae Koshetz to handle his manslaughter case. Koshetz oversaw disciplinary proceedings for department members. 

And Brown, who last worked at Chinatown’s 5th Precinct, at one time policed the same sort of turf where Liang had his deadly encounter.
