Last week I appeared in Richmond County Criminal Court
representing two employees of a local Staten Island bar who received a total of
three criminal summonses. The bartender received a summons for
unreasonable noise coming from a commercial establishment (which can carry a
very substantial fine as high as $3,500) and a second summons for failure to
produce the certificate of occupancy. The bouncer received the third
summons for failure to produce a New York State security guard’s license, which
is a misdemeanor. I was able to convince the judge to grant
an Adjournment in Contemplation of Dismissal AND immediate dismissal and
sealing of the case. No fine. No community service.
