Send the letter to me (and not the Judge directly) so I can include it in a court filing.

County of Kings

                                    RE:     People v. Peter Liang
                                                Indictment No. 9988/2014

Dear Honorable Chun,

I am writing to you in support of Police Officer Peter Liang. I believe that his conviction was unjust and I do not believe that the charge of reckless manslaughter is supported by any reasonable view of the evidence submitted at trial. Likewise, the conviction of official misconduct is unsupported by the evidence.

I respectfully ask that you set aside the illogical verdict handed down by the jury. If you will not set aside the verdict, I respectfully ask that you sentence Police Officer Peter Liang to probation. Institutional confinement of Police Officer Peter Liang is not necessary for the protection of the public. A prison sentence would be inconsistent with the ends of justice.

Respectfully submitted,

    1. Had Liang been a white police officer, he would have been convicted of intentional murder.
The truth is that liberal insanity has boomeranged against minorities within the police department. Don't you know black cops in Baltimore were arrested and charged for Murder for just doing their job just like Liang?

  24. There are some arguments and controversies in the Liang's case.

Argument # 1: NYC housing authority apartment buildings have bad reputation of area of drug dealers, area of gun dealers, area of gun killers, area of prostitution.

When people entry the housing apartment buildings, not only they feel scared being killed or assaulted, police feels the same.

When gun shooting begins, it is the battle between life and death, either you die or I die. You have no time and space to make judgments while you confronting, face to face.

Death can happen within one or two seconds. Peter Liang shooting can be self-defense shooting. After that person got shot, Liang failed to call ambulance. Liang was at fault.

But Liang shouldn't end up 15 years in prison. It is not fair to Liang. Liang is a good police, doing good job while on duty. A person of Integrity, braveness, Fidelity to the job he was doing as a police officer.

Sending him to prison 15 years seems not fair to him, too long to him. Our Justice system seems to discourage, dishonor, disappointed to those who on the uniform to protect us, and to end crimes on the street everyday in the city.

If Liang has no criminal record with his background, one time accident, or one time mistaken, one time fault, one time misjudgment on or after shootings ends up sending him 15 yeas in prison, that is not right.

To reduce years in prison, from 15 years to 3, 5 or 6 years.

    2. Peter Liang should not have been indicted in the first place. Shame on Margaret Chin! Kudos for Ron Kim! Keep this in mind - don't miss a vote and vote for politicians that can fight for the rights that Asian Americans deserve as any other races!

  25. Peter Liang had no intention to kill anyone. It was only a tragic accident. It was so unfair that the judge granted the prosecutor to disallow the defense attorney to bring up the incident that two police officers were shot during the stairway patrol in the public housing building just last week to prove that kind of building patrols are dangerous and warrant the need for carrying a gun.

  32. From wiki: "The death of Akai Gurley is notably similar to the shooting death of Timothy Stansbury Jr. that occurred in January 2004, when Officer Richard S. Neri killed Timothy Stansbury Jr., 19, on a roof at the Louis Armstrong Houses in Brooklyn at about 1 a.m. when Officer Neri, with his gun drawn, approached a rooftop door to check the stairway inside. A grand jury declined to indict Officer Neri on charges of criminally negligent homicide, declaring the event an accident, after he gave testimony that he had unintentionally fired; he was startled, he said, when Mr. Stansbury pushed open a rooftop door in a place where drug dealing was rampant."

He trained by the NYC Police Dept. If he is guilty, then the whole Police Dept shall be guilty as well. Then the Justic served equally?

The politics and grandstanding that they reported in the news was unfair to officer Liang. I was worried that the police union would throw him under the bus, but it was heartbreaking to read the verdict.

  48. we really need to fight for our boy, justice, all we want is justice. If we didn't get what we want this time, the same thing would happen to our Chinese people around the world again and again until we become the lowest class in the world. We are not cowards and we should speak for him, our young and innocent man, Liang. If we can stand out for him this time, maybe things will change a little bit next time and we shouldn't be used as scapegoats. Dark days are coming, but we stand together.
